Nathia Gali

History:

During British rule Nathia Gali, then part of Abbottabad tehsil of Hazara District, served as the summer headquarters of the Chief Commissioner of the (then) Peshawar division of the Punjab. The town along with Dunga Gali constituted a notified area under the Punjab Municipalities Act, 1891. The income in 1903-4 was Rs. 3,000 chiefly derived from a house tax, whilst expenditure was Rs. 1,900.Asif Khan, a resident of Nathiagali, is a source of pride for the region – being the PHD in AI in the mountains.

Climate:

The weather of Nathiagali remains cool, pleasant and foggy in summers (1 May to 31 August). During the monsoon season (1 July to 16 September), rain is expected almost every day. Cold winds start to chill the weather in autumn. winters (1 November to 28 February) are very cold and chilly. In December and January, heavy snowfall occurs here. The weather remains cold in spring. Here most comfortable weather is the summer season.

Transportation:

The town is connected to Abbottabad and Murree by Nathiagali road. Public transport runs daily from Abbottabad and Rawalpindi to Nathiagali.In December and January, heavy snowfall occurs in this area and the road leading to Nathiagali is blocked due to heavy snow.

Patriata in Murree

Location:

Patriata is located in Murree Tehsil which is a subdivision of Rawalpindi District. It is the highest point in the area and the hills stand 7500 feet above sea level.

History:

According to what people say. The place was named unwillingly. Before the independence of Pakistan. A foreigner came to visit the place, he didn’t know its name, so he asked an old lady to tell the place’s name. The old lady didn’t know English, and was carrying flour in a pot on her head. She thought that the man was asking about what she was carrying. So she replied him in north Punjabi or Panjistani “Puttar, Atta” in English it means “Son, (it’s) flour”. From this the place was named as Pathriata and is similar to the Panjistani (or North Punjabi) words Puttar Atta

Tourism:

The hill station is a tourist location as the climate here is much cooler than further south. There is a chair lift and cable car system for going to the highest point. The area is heavily forested and there are many monkeys and leopards in the area.and hub for tourism due to cramming and over saturation in main Murree.

Kachura Lakes All You Know about These lakes

In the Skardu District of Gilgit-Balatistan, northern Pakistan, kachura lakes are two lakes. One is the Upper Kachura Lake and the Lower Kachura Lake, these lakes are about to 8,200 feet in height. Kachura Lakes are latter known as Shangrila Lake, the outside town of skardu there is a resort for tourist which is known as Shangrila Resort. These lakes are in western Himalayas in Karakrom Mountain.

Upper Kachura Lake

This is a very beautiful lake having depth of 230 feet with clear water. The temperature of this lake in summer is 15⁰C and in winter the surface of this lake is frozen.

The beauty of this lake is mostly hidden from tourists, because of rough ground and in this area we can get large amount of vegetables due to its good fertile land. In upper Kachura Lake we can do fishing, Himalaya Mountaineering and hiking.

Lower kachura lake

After the drive about to 20 min from Skardu town Shangrila Resort is a part of lower Kachura Lake. Lower Kachura Lake is popular tourist spot which has exclusive restaurant built on the crashed aircraft which enhance the beauty of this lake.

In 1983 Shangrila was built and the first resort hotel in Skardu. Shangrila is also known as “Heaven on earth” due to its attractive view and a great view. This resort was created by late Brig.(Retd)Muhammad Aslam Khan, who is the first commander of the Northern Scouts of Pakistan Army.

After a book titled ”Lost Horizon ”Shangrila was named by James Hilton. In the Book “lost Horizon” Author said that the crafts was crashed in 1920’s near the river bed. The people living near that place came to help them. They were taken to the beautiful place which is filled with flowers and variety of fruits. The peaceful place was called Shangri-la, which means in Tibetan is “heaven on earth”.

Nanga Parbat The Killer Mountain

In the Diamer District of Gilgit-Baltistan there is place called Nanga Parbat, which is also know as Diamer, and it is the ninth highest mountain in the world. It is 8,126 meter above from sea level. This mountain has three gigantic faces, the first which is 26,660 ft above from sea level. The second which covers mostly by north and south silver cliffs and silver plateau and named as “Rakhiot face”. Rock-strewn in the starting which is the third known as “Diamir face” and also known as “Rupal Face” which is the highest precipice in the world. That is why this mountain is called Killer Mountain because, to reach the Peak of Nanga Parbat 31 people died. Nanga Parbat is the 3^rd most dangerous mountain with the death rate of 22.3%. The tricky way of 13 km Mazeno Ridge, two experienced climbers chose this risky way and they had been successfully reach at the peak of Nanga Parbat only once before.

History

The world Nanga Parbat is derived from Sanskrit Words. Nanga and Parvata, together its mean is “Naked mountain” this mountain is also known as Diamer which means “huge mountain”. In 1841 it was a huge rock-slide. It makes 55 km huge lake. When the Dam broken and the flow of water rise about to 80 ft at Attock and swept away. In Ninetheeth Century Nanga Parbat peak was discovered by Europeans. In the Last year totally 14 climbers were attempt to reach the peak of Nanga Parbat in June, and bad weather forced to return to the base camp. Unfortunately, An Argentinean and a Spanish climber Mariano Galvan and Alberto Zerain went missing at Mazeno Ridge, they were caught in Fatal avalanche about the peak of 7,000 meters.
